Invader Part Four

Driving recklessly, Maria pushed her foot down on the accelerator. Jay was sitting nervously in the seat next to her.

"Will we be caught?" he whisphered and Maria stared in the rear view mirror.

"I don't think so, if we are very careful we should be safe"

As soon as she had said those words, they heard a smashing sound in front of them. Looking up, Jay swore under his breath, and they stopped the car. Sitting by the roadside, was a crying girl. Gingerly, Maria stepped out of the car and walked over to the girl.

"You ok?" she asked and the girl stared at her with fear widened eyes.

"I'm not going back!" she screamed, hitting Maria.

Maria stepped back. "Look, is something wrong? I'm not going to do anything to you, you know"

Confused, the girl stood up and stared at her with contempt. "Nothing? You're gonna send me back to the prison, ain't ya?"
Maria shook her head, still not seeing the obvious truth. There was a reason that the girl was terrified, after all.

"No I'm not" Maria said, and the girl frowned.

"Your not going to?"

Maria nodded. "I'm not"

"But you're..."

Finally Maria understood.

"Yeah I am an alien" Maria said biting her lip, ready to run back to the car.

"You piece of scum" the girl screamed but Maria said nothing.

"Look, why would you help me? So just capture me or let me go" the girl snapped.

Maria turned to walk back into the car, when Jay climbed out and walked over to the girl.

"She's human" whispered Maria.

Jay ran up to the girl. "I'm like you" he said.

She stared at him and shook her head. "Impossible. Why aren't you running? You wouldn't be with that alien if you were human" she spat and Jay sighed.
