"I can you know. I can get a car from one of the towns. I'll just show them...my talent... that proves I'm one of them, and I'll get a car"
"What do you mean 'talent'?"
"What do you mean 'talent'?"
"Shapeshifting" she mumbled under her breath.
"What?"
"I can change the way I look. It takes all my energy, and I can't do it a lot - I don't have the stamina, but I can change the way I look. I could look like a cat if I wanted to..." she said awkwardly.

Jay nodded then, understanding. "Can you actually drive?"
"Can you?" Maria shot back.
"Can you?" Maria shot back.
"Haven't had a chance, the Invasion - remember!" he snapped and she blushed.
"Sorry. And no, I can't drive, but it can't be that hard, right?"
Jay laughed grimly. "How far is it to the nearest town?"
"A few miles"
And with that, they walked solemnly towards the town, saying nothing. When, eventually, they reached the town, Jay grimaced. He was going to be found out. After all, he couldn't shape change and more importantly, he didn't know anything about space. And he didn't have a clue how to act.

Maria put a finger to her mouth and he nodded. She ran to a nearby car, with the key still in the ignition- how gullible - and turned the key. The engine revved and they both climbed in.
They were on their way.
