"The Resistance, there is a hideout. A proper house. In the forest, we can go there. And be safe. Properly safe" the boy said, grinning.
Muddy and terrified, the girl shook her head. "No"
"Why not? Do you like being in constant danger?"
"I'm not like you" the girl screamed over the pouring rain."What do you mean?" the boy asked nervously and she pointed to a vehicle a few metres away.
"The invaders..." she muttered.
The boy spat on the ground and looked up at her wide-eyed. "What about them?"
"Jay. I'm not human. I'm hiding from The Invaders; but I'm one of them" she whispered.
Jay stepped backwards into a tree and held up his hands in defeat. "P..please don't hurt me"
The girl looked horrified and shook her head. "I would never hurt you Jay"
"You just said that you were one of them, Maria!" he exclaimed, shaking all over.
Maria raised her hands above her head. "I would never hurt you" she screamed, crying now.
Jay took a stick off of the ground and approached Maria warily.
